Pali recently did a blog revealing that there were 20 houses for sale for just £1 in the Kensington regeneration are of Liverpool.
Since this blog, the news has spread like wildfire and up to 400 people have already shown interest in the £1 properties but unfortunately, there are only 20 home available to buy! Liverpool City Council have yet to reveal the criteria for deciding who out of the hundreds of people will be chosen to purchase a £1 property but it is understood that they are keen to prioritise the people who have links to the area and will commit to living there for at least five years.
There are many houses in the Kensington regeneration area that have been vacant and boarded up for several years now after the redevelopment scheme fell through. Many houses were demolished but no new ones were built to replace them but housing associations and some private landlords are taking over some of the abandoned properties, refurbishing them and making them homes for families to live in.
The people who are sold the houses for £1 will be required to bring them up to the ‘Decent Homes Standard’ which means the houses must provide warmth, weather proofing and reasonably modern facilities for people living in them.
If you are interested in purchasing a house for £1 in Liverpool call 051 233 2148 and speak directly to Liverpool City Council.
