Warrington Means Business
Warrington is at the centre of a highly connected network of motorways, international airports, mainline rail and waterway linkages that is second to none. The Town has the largest population outside the Greater Manchester and Merseyside conurbations in the North West of England with over 200,000 people and home to around 8,000 businesses employing 115,000 people.
Major work is now underway to transform Warrington town centre with a £107m retail and leisure development in the traditional heart of Warrington’s town centre and Bridge Street.
When completed in 2019 the scheme will create a family-friendly shopping, restaurant and leisure experience.
The new scheme will see Cineworld provide a state-of-art multiplex Cinema complex incorporating a Superscreen. This will be a welcome addition to the town centre as Warrington currently only has an out of town cinema complex. The current Market building will be demolished in 2017 and replaced with a newly constructed, contemporary market which will create a vibrant leisure and shopping complex that is situated in the heart of the town centre. In addition there will be a new 103,000sq ft office and administrative facility that will be occupied by Warrington Borough Council and a public square which will be used for events, pop up retail units and leisure activities. Parking in the town will be improved with the addition of a new 1,160 space multi-storey car park.
The scheme will bring a massive boost to employment in the town, with the creation of up to 400 new permanent jobs in the leisure, retail and restaurant sectors.
