Introducing Lawyer Checker
Posted: 12/12/2013
Pali are pleased to announce, after a small delay due to technical issues, we have now successfully integrated Lawyer Checker in to the Pali system.
You can therefore now order the Lawyer Checker Reports through the regular Pali website www.paliltd.com. Simply log in and the new reports now appear in the product list.
Lawyer Checker is a simple but effective online service that allows a purchaser’s conveyancer to gather further information on a vendor’s conveyancer that they are sending money to.
How does Lawyer Checker work?
When a firm’s account details are submitted, a track record is identified from previous use associated with that account and if there isn’t a record, or the account is not well known, Lawyer Checker can carry out additional checks to provide you with further information to help you decide if it is appropriate to send money to that account.
There are two Lawyer Checker reports: Account Screen and Account and Entity Screen.
Account Screen checks the sort code and account number of the vendor’s conveyancer against a regularly updated database which includes historical transactions. A report will be returned to you immediately and if there are any concerns raised then recommendations will be included. There are also safeguards against genuine human error.
The Lawyer Checker Account and Entity Screen checks the sort code and account number of the vendor’s conveyancer against a regularly updated database which includes historical transactions. A report will be returned to you immediately and if there are any concerns raised then further research will be carried out for you on the entity associated with the account. There are also safeguards against genuine human error.
The Lawyer Checker Account and Entity Screen further research includes checks on the following:
• Roll of solicitors/conveyancers
• Companies House information
• ICO Data Protection Register
• FSA Registers
• Land Registry Transfers of Value lists
• Sort code look-up
• Streetview
The key features of Lawyer Checker Account and Entity Screen Report are that it enhances due diligence and safeguards against genuine human error.
Lawyer Checker has a comprehensive database which it can pull immediate responses from and if necessary, a further response within 4 hours if a result raises concerns. Further manual research can also be carried out in order to provide the user with an accurate and up-to-date report on the entity they have searched against.
