WasteCare takes over Veolia chemical waste site
On the 25th July, WasteCare Group announced that they have finalised the purchase of Veolia’s Lower Bank View industrial liquid waste treatment site in Liverpool.
The treatment site is certified to treat more than 200 tonnes of liquid industrial waste each week. The site treats effluents such as sludge materials, coolants, nitric acid, chromic acids, metal hydroxide, biosludge, leachate, alkalis, interceptors waste, acids and others.
This facility in Liverpool is the 15th licensed site purchased by WasteCare Group and it is their 5th acquisition in the past year.
The chairman of WasteCare Group, Peter Hunt, said “This is a strategic addition to the group, enabling us to expand our offering to both existing and new clients. This deal provides a significant boost to our capacity to handle bulk chemical waste. With the strength of our national collection fleet we are able to collect and treat virtually any type of hazardous and ‘difficult’ waste regardless of volume.”
It has also been announced that the site’s current operational team and management will be retained and will continue to be led by Paul Campbell after the following the takeover by WasteCare Group.
The company also confirmed that John Campbell has been appointed as commercial manager for the HazCare division and for LBV.
It has also been announced that WasteCare Group has acquired the Avonmouth IBC facitlity from the company Greif UK. According to ParkCare, this is the only facility permitted for thermal treatment specifically for contaminated steel drums and various other metal packaging in the UK due to changes to regulatory guidance.
WasteCare Group also announced that it has purchased shareholdings in BatteryBack plc from Veolia, making it a wholly-owned subsidiary of the group. It has since been revealed that the scheme plans to expand its battery collection activities in the local authority sector and construct a factory to recycle batteries in the UK.
