Comments : A Mum in Business
Last week I attended the 'Mums in Business' networking event held by Kirwans Solicitors at the Hard Days Night Hotel in Liverpool. As far as networking do's go, it was very enjoyable and interesting and I came away having learned something new and made some good contacts.
The Hard Days Night Hotel was an excellent choice of venue. As you can probably gather from the name, the boutique hotel was inspired by the Beatles and has a very unique style with some lovely artwork.
The Clarins team were also on hand at the event to preview their new autumn/winter collection and provide attendees with a luxury goodie bag (this definitely made the decision of whether to miss work or not slightly easier!)
I went with my two close friends who are also 'mums in business'; Amy Small, proprietor of Amy's Cake Design and Gina Hosseini, Regional Manager at Clear Education Ltd. We decided to arrive early as Amy had created some fantastic corporate cupcakes specially made for the seminar complete with Kirwans and Clarins logo's on and she wanted to put them out before the other attendees arrived.
Kirwans Solicitors are a valued client of ours so it was nice meeting other members of staff as we mainly deal with the conveyancing team. I have to say the Kirwans ladies were all very professional and friendly.
The networking commenced at midday after we had all got name tagged up and we all chatted over coffee and finger food. I made a couple of good connections that have since proven quite fruitful. Amy's cupcakes went down a treat and we received our Clarins goodie bags which were fab.
After we had all networked we were summoned to a different room where we were seated and Claire Ellison of Kirwans gave an interesting talk on the myth of the "Common Law Wife" and went on to explain the legal rights of cohabitation and the issues surrounding family and assets. After a brief Q and A we assembled back in the refreshments room for some final networking and cupcake munching.
It was a delight meeting the staff at Kirwans and making some new acquaintances and I look forward to the next Mums in Business event which will be held in December.
