Newton-le-Willows will see the development of 142 new houses after St Helens Council gave the green light for the new development.<\/p>\n

Housing developer Taylor Wimpey will provide a mixture of detached and semi-detached properties on 4.87 hectares of land to the west of Common Road.\u00a0 The land was allocated for residential development in the St Helens Unitary Development Plan.<\/p>\n

A recent assessment carried out by independent assessors found a requirement for more housing in all key settlements within the borough, in order to create a wider choice and greater affordability for existing local residents and also people looking to move into the area.<\/p>\n

St Helens Council\u2019s Cabinet Member for Growth, Councillor John Fulham said \u201cGranting approval for new houses helps families to get on the housing ladder while helping build the local economy, so I am delighted that this application has been approved.\u00a0 This is a small step in the right direction to securing a wide selection of housing stock, from starter homes to specialist homes such as bungalows and lifetime homes\u201d.<\/p>\n

Work on the development is expected to start in the very near future.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
