The luxurious homes were undergoing renovation at the time.<\/p>\n<p>The collapse happened on Durham Place in Chelsea. Luckily, no one was hurt, and emergency services evacuated the nearby homes safely.<\/p>\n<p>The first man to see the crash, rang the police and said, \u201cit was extremely loud, there was dust everywhere.\u201d (The Guardian, 2020).<\/p>\n<p>The planning permission submitted by the company Seabrook Properties, was accepted by Kensington and Chelsea council. The document from the council detailed the renovation for a rear extension to the lower-ground floor with a terrace.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-16934 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.paliltd.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/london-town-house.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"485\" height=\"291\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.paliltd.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/london-town-house.jpg 485w, https:\/\/www.paliltd.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/london-town-house-480x288.jpg 480w\" sizes=\"(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) 485px, 100vw\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>(Picture credit: The Guardian, 2020)<\/p>\n<p>Another application was submitted just before the property fell regarding the home next door, this noted:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cbasement excavation, demolition of extension and roof terrace and replacement with a two-storey rear extension with roof terrace, and a single storey extension at the lower-ground floor\u201d. (The Guardian, 2020)<\/p>\n<p>Multiple large developments have become extremely popular in London\u2019s neighbourhoods and most basement levels can go 18 metres underground.<\/p>\n<p>When building or reconstructing a property it is important to ensure you have the approval of the properties planning permissions if vital.
